It’s fantastic to welcome so many new walkers to Nordic Walking this summer.  Hats off to you for enduing some very hot conditions whilst grasping the art of walking with poles, not tick-tocking, revving up and down the gears and getting the maximum from ’walking this way’.  Our advice always is is to keep up the momentum once you have gained your Freedom Passport.  Try to explore as many new walks as you can, enjoy the variety on offer and ‘jump in’ so it soon becomes a habit that you literally cannot live without!  

Regular walkers will vouch that it’s addictive exercise once you get ‘into the swing’ of it (literally!!!).  Also, if you can fit in at least ONE Nordic Walk each week, you will soon see your fitness levels improve very quickly, waists become trimmer and arms more toned.  Once you have got the bug, you will find it addictive exercise!  

Already talk has turned to the next Big Challenge once the September Half Marathon is done and dusted.  Having a goal in sight is definitely a great incentive to get off the sofa and into the Great Outdoors so watch this space for a challenge with YOUR name on it!  From completing a 5K to walking part of the Marriott’s Way, we all love the feeling that we are moving forward, not standing still! 

Below are the week’s walks – There are gentle / Well-being Walks for those wanting a moderately paced 2 mile walk.  There are Adventure Walks for a steady Gear 2 pace (optional Gear 3 bursts up to you!) and there are faster Workout Walks if you like a faster pace.

9.30am Kick Start Monday! Whitlingham Country Park – FAST WORKOUT WALK


10.30am TWO MILER Wellbeing @ Whitlingham – A gentle safe way to walk yourself fitter in this beautiful location


5.15pm Learn to NW @ Broadland Business Park – 2nd Session


Tuesday 14th August


6.30pm EVENING NORDIC WALK @ UEA/Earlham Park – Add in revs or simply unwind after a busy day – choice is yours!


Wednesday 15th August


10am Summertime at Beautiful Blickling Hall 3.5 miler. Simply enjoy sociable Nordic walking in a stunning location – you never know what you will find!  Wanting a longer walk?  We will then add on an additional 5.5 miles for those wanting a 9 miler.  A special treat in this gorgeous location!


5.15pm Broadland Energiser @ Broadland Business Park –Find out routes and paths you NEVER knew existed…This fast workout walk will incorporate static exercises, hill work and strengthening/conditioning drills.  The hour FLIES past!!


Thursday 16th August


10 am  Catton Park Session 1 Learn to NW course


11.30am Catton Park Wellbeing and Feel Good walk – Such a beautiful park – come and see for yourself and enjoy a gentle walk


1.45pm Stepping Up (hills) & Back Caistor St Edmund / High Ash Farm – Sociable Nordic walking in a stunning location with hills for added exertion.


Friday 17th August


10am FREE Nordic Walking Taster session Eaton Park


11am Feel Fit and Fab Friday Walk @ Eaton – Varied routes at your own pace but with optional exertion to push yourself that little bit extra…


Saturday 18th August


8.45am Waterloo and Catton Park Woodland Wildlife Walk – Let’s mix it up for a 3.5 mile walk that takes us from one park to the other.  Never been?  Now is your chance to enjoy a fabulous Saturday walk through them both…
